PASTORAL CARE
The primary aim of the Kingsbury Green pastoral care system is to provide students with the support they need to achieve success, in whatever form that takes. In essence, we believe that a happy child is a successful student.
Each student is placed in a tutor group who meet daily; this enables the tutor to get to know them extremely well and to support and guide them. The tutor is the first point of contact for parents, carers and students. Tutors are supported by a larger team of professionals ranging from Heads of Key Stage, who oversee every element of the pastoral curriculum, to the Pastoral Support Assistants, who work with students on a daily basis to ensure they are happy and supported.

Mental Health Support at Kingsbury Green Academy
At Kingsbury Green Academy, student wellbeing is a top priority, and the school is deeply committed to supporting the mental health of every young person in its care. Staff foster strong, trusting relationships with students, creating a safe and supportive environment where pupils feel heard, valued, and understood.
Kingsbury Green Academy takes a proactive approach to mental health, offering a range of initiatives designed to build resilience and emotional wellbeing. Recently, students in Years 9 and 10 participated in specialist workshops led by educational therapists from Building Resilience in Young Minds. These sessions included sound therapy, art therapy, boxing, and mindfulness techniques such as box breathing and tapping—equipping students with practical tools to manage stress and anxiety.
Recognising the importance of a whole-community approach, Kingsbury Green Academy also engages parents and carers through information evenings focused on adolescent mental health. Staff members receive training in resilience and mental health awareness, ensuring they are well-prepared to support both students and colleagues.
Below is an overview of the tiered support available for all students who may need help with their mental health. This ensures that every young person has access to the right level of care—whether through universal wellbeing initiatives, targeted group work, or specialist one-to-one interventions.
