The Kingsbury Green Academy curriculum will provide all learners with a depth of knowledge and a rich understanding of a broad range of subjects.
The curriculum is a coherent spiral model curriculum, which builds through a 7 year learning journey to outstanding levels of achievement for all pupils. Central to the design of the KGA curriculum is a breadth of experience enhanced through dedicated time for enrichment and personal development, underpinned by the 5 KGA values of courage, confidence, creativity, conscientiousness and consideration for others.
Post Covid-19 Lockdown Recovery Curriculum Statement
The KGA recovery curriculum is based on the use of knowledge organisers (documents which organise all the most vital, useful and powerful knowledge on a single page) to prioritise the most important components of our curriculum.
Knowledge organisers are published using the remote learning portal, Show My Homework, for every subject in each year group. A range of assessments then informs teacher planning to address potential misconceptions or gaps in knowledge. This is underpinned by a whole school approach to reading as the principle mechanism for developing good subject knowledge and understanding.
At Key Stage 3 all students will study:
English, Maths, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, PE, Art, Music, Technology, IT, Dance, Geography, History, RE and PSHE.
At Key Stage 4 the majority of students follow courses that lead to nine GCSEs and alongside the core subjects, choices here include Computer Science, Citizenship, Sports Science, Engineering, Film Studies, Catering, Business, Spanish, Creative Media and more.
Post 16 we offer many courses in our Sixth Form and many of our students then go on to Higher Education at establishments all across the country.
