CAREERS EDUCATION

Our Careers Programme Vision And Strategy

Students CAN:

  • Challenge and be challenged to develop employability skills, courage and confidence through our integrated careers programme.
  • Aspire to a bright future that is well-informed and transcends barriers by accessing up-to-date LMI, career-planning tools and advice and well-developed career plans.
  • Increase and utilise their network effectively by meeting a diverse range of employers and education providers and discerning the range of pathways on offer from this.

The programme is built around the Eight Gatsby Benchmarks that have been well-researched and commended by the Government.

We run a number of careers and work-related learning events throughout the school year. At appropriate times we also run trips to Further Education Colleges, Universities and Higher Education and Apprenticeship fairs as well as to subject-focused careers events such as the Big Bang Fair.

The Wessex Inspiration Network (WIN) Programme

WIN (Wessex Inspiration Network) is one of 29 regional partnerships within the Uni Connect Programme which aims to increase social mobility by raising awareness of Higher Education (HE) opportunities and progression pathways for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We work closely with our WIN Higher Education Adviser, empowering our students to overcome barriers and explore their future options and routes into education.

Students, parents/carers and teachers can find fantastic careers support and advice on the WIN website and can read about our WIN HE Adviser here.

We always welcome volunteers and opportunities and support from the local business and education community.

If you are interested in getting involved or working with our students there are numerous opportunities for you to do so throughout the year. You can find details of this on our KGA Careers Programme Dates Summary 2024-2025. You can register your interest in the various areas of the careers programme via the Opportunities form.
